Citizen Advisory Board for State Government Performance

Citizen engagement has been a watchword for Governor Chris Gregoire since taking office in 2005. She values the importance of connecting with Washingtonians in meaningful dialogues, listening to their suggestions, and using those ideas to inform state government improvement.

As a result, Governor Gregoire has created a seven-member Citizen Advisory Board for State Government Performance to advise her on the state’s efforts to improve state government performance.

The role of the Citizen Advisory Board is to:

  • Advise the Governor on the state’s efforts to improve state government’s efficiency and effectiveness, including best practices from both the private and public sectors.
  • Ensure that efforts to improve performance are coordinated across state government and prioritized to achieve the highest value for taxpayer dollars.
  • Increase the transparency and accountability of state government through reporting to citizens in ways that are meaningful and useful.

Future meeting dates will be announced on this page.

Members of the Citizen Advisory Board have expertise in the field of performance as well as familiarity with state government operations.

The board meets quarterly and makes recommendations to the Governor on an annual basis. Contact Kris Rietmann at Kristina.Rietmann@gov.wa.gov or 360/902-0401 for additional information about the Citizen Advisory Board for State Government Performance.
