What is needed to use RecoveryShare?
Because RecoveryShare is web-based, technology needs for using it are minimal. You need:
- MS Office license with SharePoint Client Access License (CAL) for each employee using RecoveryShare. See below for additional information about who needs licenses.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher.
Note: You do not need SharePoint loaded on your computer or on one of your agency’s servers. RecoveryShare (built on SharePoint) is hosted at DIS and accessed via the Internet.
How do I know if I need a license?
You can review this list to determine whether your agency participates in a master contract agreement with DIS that covers these licenses. The majority of agencies most likely already have a SharePoint Standard CAL (also called a “Core CAL”) as part of their Microsoft Office licensing agreement.
How do we obtain the appropriate license?
Most agencies obtain their Microsoft Office licenses through the Department of Information Services. Information technology staff should use their DIS contact to obtain the appropriate number of licenses. What is SecureAccess Washington (SAW)?
SAW is a single sign-on application gateway created by the Washington State Department of Information Services to simplify access to the growing list of government services accessible via the Internet.
With SAW, one unique single, self-generated User ID and Password allows access to multiple Internet-based government applications. Once signed in, users have the ability to change their password and register for access to various online government services.
Who needs a SAW account?
Any state employee requiring access to RecoveryShare will need a SAW account if your agency is not part of the Enterprise Active Directory (also called the “Global Address Book” or just “the Global”).
One easy way to find out if your agency is part of the Enterprise Active Directory is to open Outlook and check your email address book. If you have access to the Global Address list, a list that contains people in many other agencies, you are in the Enterprise Active Directory. If the list is only people in your agency, you probably are not included, and you will need to set up a SAW account.

When should I set the SAW account up? Is there anything else I need to do?
You should set your individual account up at least a few days before you want to use RecoveryShare.
Once you have set up your SAW account, notify Kris Rietmann, 360-902-0401, about your SAW username, so that she can give you access to RecoveryShare.
